Abstract/Contents: | "The National Zoysiagrass Evaluation Trial was planted here in Nebraska in order to determine the cold hardiness, adaptation, and performance of these new zoysiagrasses under Nebraska conditions. This trial was established in June 1991...(and) was planted in a randomized complete block design with three replications. It was maintained at a low to moderate level, which includes 2 lbs of nitrogen/1000 ft² per growing season, preemergence weed control, and irrigation to prevent wilt. The main limitation to zoysiagrass use is lack of winter hardiness, and the importance of winter hardiness is shown in the ratings for winter survival. In comparison to Meyer, a number of experimentals lacked sufficient winter hardiness to be used in Nebraska." |
