Abstract/Contents:"Research was conducted to evaluate the efficiency of bioinoculants and organic fertilizers on thatch degradation. Research was conducted at the John Seaton anderson Turfgrass Research facility located near Mead, Nebraska, on a mature stand of 'Penncross' creeping bentgrass. Treatments were applied on May 20, June 24 and September 17, 1994...The experimental design was split-plot with aerification treatments as main plots and treatments as sub-plots. The treatment design was a 2 (aerification) X 7 (treatments) factorial with 3 replications. Results of the analysis of variance indicated a significant aerification X treatment and interaction. In general, aerified plots exhibited greater thatch reduction than non-aerified (63 vs. 27%). Biogroundskeeper Premix, both Sustane treated plots and the untreated plots had significantly greater thatch reduction when aerified. The greatest thatch reduction (102%) was shown for aerified plots treated with Sustane (5-2-4, with Fe).
