Abstract/Contents:Discusses the difference that ground maintenance can make on the appearance of the campus. "The impression given by the grounds around buildings says a great deal about your institution to the community...an approriate grounds maintenance program can increase the beauty and usefulness of an area, reduce the need for maintenance, and, therefore, save money. The following are various areas of turf maintenance and makeup that should be addressed when instituting a total grounds maintenance program." Topics cover: soils, grass selection, mowing and trimming, aeration, watering, fertilization, pest control, general repair and renovation, and "use discipline."
