Abstract/Contents:"Society has made it clear that improved water quality is a high priority goal. The current trend is to examine whole watersheds and determine where the major problems occur and how to fix them. Sediment is by far the most common and serious problem in our streams, lakes, and estuaries. Turf professionals should be proud that their primary focus -grass- does not contribute significantly to the problem. However, erosion around construction areas and unstable stream banks can be right next to the turf area and should also be managed to prevent sediment from becoming a problem."
