Abstract/Contents: | "In an experiment on nitrogen fertilization of sports turfs applications were made at different times throughout the growing season. A good nitrogen supply to the turf was found to be particularly necessary after the winter, in early summer before the beginning of a dry period and in autumn. As compared with nitro-chalk, sulphur-coated urea (Gold-N) gave a more even grass growth, an increase in ground cover during winter and a slower release of nitrogen. As a result of the slow release of nitrogen, from the second year of application the effect of this sulphur-coated urea equalled that of nitro-chalk." |
