Abstract/Contents:Breaks down golf course liability into two categories: (1) On-course injuries, and (2) Off-site injuries and damage. Gives suggestions on how to prevent accidents from happening, such as keeping low branches pruned, removing broken limbs that could fall, moving tees or greens farther from congested areas, and more. Awareness of golf cart dangers are also cited. For off-site injuries, design situations come into play, as courses tend to get too close to other people's properties, causing problems for both parties. Solutions include properly placed trees, shrubs, mounds or temporary screens. Other areas of liability include early warning systems for lightning or storms and the use of chemicals on the course that may be harmful for allergic golfers.
