Abstract/Contents: | Reports that because of Dr. Funk's efforts and the international stature of his breeding program, Dr. William Meyer has joined Rutgers University to carry on the gigantic contribution this institution makes to the turfgrass industry. Dr. Meyer has been collecting turfgrass germplasm and began a new turfgrass breeding program in 1996. Population improvement programs show progress in ryegrasses, fescues and creeping bentgrass and continued progress has been made in identifying and developing Kentucky bluegrasses with improved performance under summer stress and reduced maintenance. |
