Abstract/Contents: | "Applications of triclopyr (trimethylamine salt), (butoxyethyl ester), alone and in combination with 2,4-D amine and chlorsulfuron, alone and in combination with 2,4-D anime and with mefluidide were made at two locations to an established bluegrass stand infested with common turf broadleaf weeds. Trexsan (2,4-D+MCPP+dicamba) at 2 kg/ha was used as a standard. Dates of the applications at the two sites were 20 mi and 28 mi 1981. Control of black medic was obtained with chlorsulfuron at 0.035, 0.07 and 0.14 kg/ha, also chlorsulfuron plus 2,4-D at 0.035 plus 0.84 and 0.07 plus 0.84 kg/ha, and chlorsulfuron plus mefluidide at 0.018 plus 0.27 and 0.035 plus 0.28 kg/ha. Triclopyr + 2,4-D at rates of 0.36 plus 1.1, 0.56 plus 1.1, and 0.84 plus 1.1 also resulted in complete control. Triclopyr (butoxyethyl ester) at 0.56 kg/ha gave 90% control. Other weeds at the test site included buckhorn plantain, dandelion, and white clover. Overall weed control at 39 and 35 days after treatment with chlorsulfuron plus 2,4-D was equal to control obtained with Trexsan. Chlorsulfuron plus mefluidide was not so effective. Triclopyr and triclopyr plus 2,4-D control was also equivalent to that obtained with Trexsan. There appeared to be no difference in control obtained with either the trimethylamine salt or the butoxyethyl ester of triclopyr." |
