Abstract/Contents: | "The objective of this study was to obtain a better understanding of P and K requirements for sod grown in muck soils....Our strategy was to raise soil P and K to bracket EREC recommended index values for pasture....We then evaluated the effects of fertilizer treatment on St. Augustinegrass 'Floratam' sod production based on grow-in, clipping growth, turf visual quality, and cut-sod piece quality [tear resistance]....We found that when the initial EREC P soil-test index was below a value of ten all measured parameters (except tear resistance) were increased with higher levels of phosphorus....On the other hand, higher levels of potassium had no effect on any of the measured parameters." |
