Abstract/Contents: | Evaluates various herbicides applied to dormant bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) to control both crabrass (Digitaria sanguinalis) and perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne). One plot of bermudagrass was overseeded with perennial ryegrass and crabgrass, while another was not. Herbicides were applied to both plots. The conclusions were: Bermudagrass density in overseeded bermudagrass was highest with pronamide and atrazine. On non-overseeded bermudagrass, treatments of pronamide, atrazine, and metribuzin were most successful in preventing crabgrass infestations. Metribuzin was the only chemical to completely eradicate broadleaf weeds in non-overseeded bermudagrass. |
