| Abstract/Contents: | "The USGA Experimental Bentgrass Green at Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas, Texas contains 24 entries of creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds.), and focuses on identifying cultivars with significant improvements in environmental adaptability. Stronger bentgrasses for golf greens, which are more disease-resistant, durable and require less cultural inputs will be identified through evaluation for several turf performance characteristics and actual golf course usage. The initial results show significant differences in emergence within the first 10 days. The fastest germination rate was observed for Imperial bentgrass (5.7). Overall mean values in turfgrass quality for Penncross, Syn96-3, AP1-1 (7.8); SR1020, Crenshaw (7.7), and LCB-103, Providence and Trueline (7.5)." |
