| Abstract/Contents: | "The 1993 NTEP Sand Modified Bentgrass trial contains 30 entries of creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds.) and focuses on identifying cultivars with significant improvements in environmental adaptability. Through evaluations for several turf performance characteristics and in conjunction with the national testing program, we intend to find stronger bentgrasses for golf greens which are more disease-resistant, durable and generally require less cultural inputs. According to the 5 year results, Southshore ranked highest with a TPI=75. Also in the top group were 18th Green, 'Pro/Cup' and 'Regent' (TPI=72). However, except for turf quality, turf characteristics examined in this study were similar among entries." |
