| Abstract/Contents: | "In July 1996, fourteen buffalograsses from the 1996 NTEP buffalograss trial were established at TAES-Dallas for evaluation. Stempede, Prairie and 609 consistently had a darker green color than the other entries, and maintained the darkest green color throughout the season. Prairie rated superior in fall color retention. UCR-95 and Bonnie Brae exhibited the best overall turf quality throughout the growing season. High greenup scored in the spring were observed for 378 and Bonnie Brae. UCR-95 ranked the highest in establishment with over 97 percent ground cover by 23 July 1997. There were no significant differences between the entries in leaf texture. Bison rated the highest for weed infestation. Cody, Tatanka. and Texoka displayed the most visible seed-heads." |
