Abstract/Contents:Test to evaluate control of smooth crabgrass by the postemergence herbicides Acclaim (alone or with Betasan or Trexsan) and MSMA. The Kenblue Kentucky bluegrass test area was maintained at 2.5 inches and had not been irrigated or fertilized for the past three years. Nine treatments with three replications were applied to 6' X 10' plots on July 9, 1985. Within the nine days prior to application of the chemicals, the plot area received 2.06 inches of rain and 6 hours following the application of treatments 0.60 inches was received. During this period, the maximum daily temperature was near 85 d F. A table provides herbicides, formulations, application rates, % crabgrass on 8/5 and 9/19, and bluegrass and crabgrass color on 7/19. Repeat application of MSMA (2 + 2 lb ai/A) 10 days after the first gave best control but worst color.
