| Abstract/Contents: | "Presents the results of cultivar trials conducted in the United Kingdom for various turfgrass species. Where applicable, cultivars are rated for the following qualities: wear tolerance under low and high nitrogen conditions; shoot density; fineness of leaf; cleanness of cut; slow growth under regular and infrequent mowing; resistance to red thread, dollar spot, and orange stripe rust; winter and summer greenness; and tolerance of close mowing. Turfgrasses with more than one common use (for example, winter sports pitches versus lawns or golf greens versus golf fairways) are given separate evaluations for each type of use." |
