Abstract/Contents:States that "all products placed on the market for the control of pests, weeds and diseases have to be registered by government agencies, either the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or the Pesticides Safety Directorate (PSD) depending on their place of use". Describes the comprehensive process pesticidal products must undergo before registration is granted. Concludes that "on average, a new pesticide takes approximately 10 years to develop at a cost of more than 50 million pounds". Advises readers not to purchase products without a MAFF or MAPP number.
