Abstract/Contents:Briefly profiles the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus), which has experienced a massive population decline over the past fifty years. Lists ways to provide good habitats for newts, including keeping ponds fish free, keeping grassy areas around the ponds rough, leaving piles of leaves or cut logs for newts to hide and feed in, and not using chemicals in or around the ponds.
