Abstract/Contents:"There is, at present, frequently the call for the immediate sowing of different lawn mixtures along road banks in order to obtain, as quickly as possible, an almost natural plant cover. Attention must be drawn, however, in this respect to the results of previous experiments which do not seem to be sufficiently known, according to which turf mixtures when sown along road banks did not have the desired effect. The present plant cover is the result of a development over thousands of years. Such a natural plant cover cannot be produced shortly by man. To obtain lawn along roads, as desired, it will generally suffice to sow a few grass varieties, vix. varieties which have survived on road banks, initiating thus the development of plant populations adapted to the site. This is the conclusion of the results of previous experiments which were summarized in six thesis [theses]."
