| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the compatibility of organizational and personal goals and describes how success can be achieved when organizational and personal goals work together. Explains the role of a manager on a golf course and the importance of interacting with individuals to determine "the nature of every individual". Discusses the importance of allocating responsibility to ensure the job is done efficiently and to also increase the quality of the course. Describes some of the difficulties in being a manager and gives tips on how to become successful as a manager. Defines participative management as a way to permit "people to participate in the decision-making process when the decisions are non-routine, when the decisions affect the people, and the manager never gives up the prerogative of making the final decision." |
