Abstract/Contents:Profiles Agrostis castellana and descibes this bentgrass as a possible "superior" breed of turfgrass. Traces the history of Agrostis castellana. Presents a study to determine the various characteristics of Agrostis castellana. Results include that in "late December, several varieties were still showing a green blade despite the fact that they were transplanted... in the winter" indicating its durability and hardiness. Concludes that "these selections will then be subjected to further testing to determine such things as their adaptability to a low cut, ability to withstand traffic, water needs, [and] turf density".
