Abstract/Contents: | CONTENTS NOTE: Brief article reviews the USGA Conference of April 24, 1985 at Cherry Hills Country Club. Discussion of the use of the stimpmeter reaffirmed that the ever controversial stimpmeter was designed to insure uniformity in greens and not designed to place the emphasis on speed. Other management factors which affect green speed are also mentioned. Also includes brief comments on other sessions of the conference such as: Drought tolerance of bents, Native landscaping of desert courses, Grasses for special effects, Current disease studies, Hosting a major tournament, Proper marking and defining of courses, and the 'Slope' handicapping system. |
