| USGA Summary Points: | On average, 18 ± 8% of the applied 2,4-D was measured in runoff from both grass species as compared to 2 ± 1% for flutolanil fungicide and 0.2 ± 0.1% for chlorpyrifos insecticide. Soil organic carbon adsorption coefficients were 73 ml/g for 2,4-D, 576 ml/g for flutolani, and 3551 ml/g for chlorpyrifos. These values indicate weak adsorption for 2,4-D, moderate adsorption for flutolanil and strong sorption for chlorpyrifos. Maximum observed runoff concentrations were 962 ppb for 2,4-D, 1747 ppb for flutolanil, and 28 ppb for chlorpyrifos. It is too early to say that differences exist in the hydrology or pesticide retention/dissipation of bermudagrass and zoysiagrass turfgrass. |
