| Abstract/Contents: | "In the Gardening and Landscaping Test Department of the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture at Veitshochheim/Wurzburg 5 stabilization alternatives for lawn parking lots were use-tested between 1969 and 1979. In order to examine the question, if the choice of the stabilization would have a bearing on the conditions of growth of the lawn grasses, important characteristic values of the soil physics in the base courses [Tragschichten = carrying layers] were determined. Substancial differences were found to exist particularly with the results for the total pore volume, the water content, as well as the Proctor density. Herefrom it can be inferred that the type of parking lot stabilization in the case of long-time use by private automotive vehicles does influence the properties of the base course and thus the development and care of the sward." |
