| Abstract/Contents: | "This is a description of the methods applied at the evaluation of the quality of single species and mixtures. Aim of the taking of the samples is to get a representative section of the seed lot. From this primary sample a subsample is taken for examination. The samples are fractioned and the components are listed according to their percentage of weight. The portion of unwanted species is destined by the number of unwanted seeds. The Jacobsen-germination apparatus is very well qualified for the examination of the germinating ability of single species as well as of the components of a mixture." When comparing the results from various tests on the mixtures, a certain margin of differences must be tolerated. A test with young seedlings can be performed in certain cases to identify cultivars of turfgrasses. |
