Abstract/Contents:"Wildflower sods were made with 3 different commercial peat-lite mixes and a cheesecloth netting as a root binder with seeding rates 1-20 x field rates. Rates of 1 x, 5 x, and 10 x were required, depending on species. Sod formation of Asclepias tuberosa L., Cichorium intybus L., and Liatris spicata (L.) Willd. was unsatisfactory, but Achillea Millefolium [millefolium] L., Chrysanthemum leucanthemum L. 'Ox-eye' and 'Alaska', Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench., Gaillardia aristata Pursh., Hesperis matronalis L., Oenothera Lamarckiana [lamarckiana] L., Ratibida columnaris Raf., and Rudbeckia hirta L. produced good sods and good rooting when field-transplanted."
