| Abstract/Contents: | Discussed the theories of and uses for penetrants (surfactants), more specifically Surf-Side Blends from Mentco Products Corporation. Low mole surfactants proved to be the best products. A problem commonly experienced due to lack of carry-over from the previous years application was turf burnout in mid summer. A good application program is after spring aerificant and topdressing add 1 quart surfactant/1000 sq ft on a good green and 2 quart on a poor green; this gives a good starting base for moisture control and provides some surfactant in leachate form to the plant. This won't control dry spots. Also discussed was the use of surfactants on oil spills on greens and treatment of seeds with surfactants. Included were the effects of surfactants upon diseases; uses of surfactants an pesticides together; Poa annua and surfactants and the advantages of injecting surfactants into and irrigation system. |
