Abstract/Contents:Discusses renovations made to the Mississaugua Golf & Country Club in 2003. States that "combined with the natural dynamic process of the river, the heavy rain and spring snowmelt resulted in extensive erosion along the banks." Lists the Credit Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA), the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Canadian Coast Guard as regulating agencies responsible for approving the renovation plans. Lists three elements that lead to the success of the plan: "realignment of the river to reduce the sharp meander where the erosion was taking place"; "the use of grade-control structures, or rock ramps"; and "the stabilization of the banks using bioengineered techniques." Concludes that "overall, the realignment and stabilization process has been extremely successful in meeting its goals. Over a full year has passed since December 2003 and the stabilization has held up well, with the plant material continuing to mature and thrive...This section of the Credit River now has a more natural appearance, which has added beauty to the golf course for its members and guests to enjoy for many years to come."
