# of Pages:2
Abstract/Contents:Contrasts the difference between the cool-season grass collection and the warm-season grass collection and states that the "[seeds] collected from wild populations of domesticated species are an important part of the collection and may be important in future research for resistance to disease and pests in turfgrass." Discusses Plant Variety Protected (PVP) status and describes the status as being able to be "used by turfgrass breeders to rate the performance of their upcoming cultivars..." Defines the goals of the National Plant Germplasm System and the Western Regional Plan Introduction Station. Discusses a study "to evaluate the response of selected accessions to post-harvest residue management." Explains that this study is important to the Kentucky bluegrass because "they have found variation for seed production that indicated development of germplasm from the collection, and perhaps other sources, may result in cultivars that would produce well under a residue removal system." Discusses the importance of understanding endophytes and the impact they have under various storage conditions.
