Abstract/Contents: | Profiles gray leaf spot (GLS), describing it as "one of the most serious pathogens of perennial ryegrass". Traces outbreaks of GLS since it was first identified in 1985. Profiles Pyricularia grisea, the fungus that causes gray leaf spot. Outlines the advancement of gray leaf spot, including dispersal of fungal conidia (spores), germination, penetration of the leaf surface, growth inside the leaf, and production of new conidia. Lists and describes factors that enhance gray leaf spot. Suggests strategies for combating GLS, including cultural practices, silicon, and fungicides. |
