| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the improved facilities of driving ranges. Many courses have upgraded and expanded their driving range tees during recent years. Suggests when considering upgrading your a tee, consider building the tee "as large as humanly possible". More turf results in better turf and greater usage. Also consider using Kentucky bluegrass instead of creeping bentgrass for initial establishment. Select a rootzone mix that is stable and capable of supporting healthy turf. Spread out divots and enforce an aggressive fertility and divot-filling program. Keep the entry and exit areas as wide open as possible to help relieve traffic flow onto and off the range tee. By following these suggestions, it is possible to improve turf quality on many driving range tees. |
