Abstract/Contents:Discusses a study "focused on speeding divot recovery by determining the optimal seed:repair mix ratios." States that the experiments were conducted in 2001 at the Landscape Horticulture Research Center in Urbana, Illinois in a Flannigan silty-clay loam soil and that "uniform divots were created using a divot tool equipped with a "U" shaped blade and filled with 120 ml of mix. Studies conducted in creeping bentgrass were mowed at 1.27 cm. The spring Kentucky bluegrass experiments took place in a 2.2 cm-height Kentucky bluegrass turf and in a perennial ryegrass turf during the summer and autumn experiments." States that "divot recovery was evaulated using digital image analysis." Concludes that "using 8:1:1 (sand:soil:compost) divot repair mixes containing 5% seed:95% repair mix (by volume)" achieved the most rapid divot recovery.
