| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses a study to investigate the efficacy of two entomopathogenic nematode (EN) species (Steinernema feltiae and Heterorhabditis zealoandica) against the lepidopterous pest Winter Corbie (Oncopera rufobrunnea). States that the experiment was conducted at a sportsfield with high levels of Oncopera rufobrunnea infestation in October 2003. Describes the experiment and provides the results in a table. Concludes that "the data clearly shows that the three treatments, cyfluthrin, Steinernema feltiae and Heterorhabditis zealandica strain X1 have a high level of efficacy in controlling this particular Corbie grub. Heterorhabditis zealandica Strain X1 has already been shown to control a wide range of coleopterous pests in the Australian turf industry and this data indicates that the use of the EN may be expanded into the lepidoptera order." |
