Abstract/Contents:Discusses Mesotrione, "a selective herbicide under development for pre- and post-emergence weed control in turf grass." States that "subsequent trials were inititated with turf grass scientists around the [United States]." Results include that "acceptable control of large crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis), nimbleill (Muhlenbergia screberi), creeping wartcress (Coronopus squamatus), common purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.), wild carrot (Daucus carota L.), black medic (Medicago lupulina L.), sowthistle (Sonchus oleraceus L.), verbena (Verbena bracteata Lag. & Rodr.), and dandelion (Taraxacum offiniale) were observed in replicated trials. Mesotrione has also shown strong activity against certain broadleaf weed species...[and] demonstrated selective activity on creeping bentgrass (Agrostis stolonifera) in a mixed Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) stand."
