| Abstract/Contents: | States that "the poorest surface conditions [on a soccer field] are often found in an area where the best conditions are ideally required." Discusses the importance of having grass cover, appropriate surface levels and firmness on the field. Suggests that deep aeration, otherwise known as verti-draining, can be used to increase the flow of water to prevent water build up on the turf. States that rolling "is a contentious issue and can cause more problems than it actually solves...regular rolling over a number of years will inevitably result in a compacted soil profile, making the establishment and retention of a healthy sward difficult." |
