States that "in 1992, Thornhill Country Club undertook a long-range plan to restore the golf course. The goal was to re-establish the historic Stanley Thompson bunkers and improve playing conditions. This would include improved tee structures and cart paths as well as a strong turf management program, whose goal was to grow healthy, reliable turf using available Integrated Pest Management (IPM) technology. Presents the results of a 1998 environmental audit. Reports that "the pesticide storage and mixing facilities were not properly contained; outdated pesticides were still being stocked; the fuel and container storage facilities were improperly built; rinse residue from equipment washing led directly to the river; and all the workspaces were unsafe." Briefly discusses the club's Environmental Management Strategy (EMS), stating that "the adoption of the club's EMS by the greens committee and board of directors has formalized the club's objectives." Briefly mentions the relationship between EMP, IMP, and Audubon and staff training programs, stating that "the failure of one will negatively impact the others." |
