Abstract/Contents:Discusses liability related to the potential failure of hazardous trees. Lists five steps that may help limit liability from tree failure and emphasizes the importance of developing a tree risk management policy. States that "this will make it clear to everyone (including lawyers) that: the safety of your staff, members and visitors is your highest priority [and] as an integral part of your overall maintenance system, you will develop and regularly undertake tree risk assessment." Concludes that "the time and resources spent implementing a tree-assessment program now will certainly pay off in the long run, sparing you and your course an experience you do not want."
