Abstract/Contents: | SUMMARY: "The putting green construction consists of the placement of tile drains into the natural soil subgrade. The tile lines are surrounded by gravel and a gravel sublayer. A layer of sand is placed on top of the gravel sublayer so as to keep the smaller particles from moving into the gravel sublayer. The rooting zone medium of sand and organic matter is then added to a depth of 30 cm. When topdressing the turf surface, the same material that was used in green construction is to be applied. It is important that layers are not build up on the putting green surface as they are highly detrimental. However, layers lower down in the soil can be beneficial." |
