Abstract/Contents:Presents the problem of nematode damage on Poa annua putting greens, especially on Northern California golf courses. The most common nematodes found damaging turf include the following: root knot, ring, dagger, lesion, stubby root, pin, spiral nematode and sting nematode. Identifies A. pacificae as "the primary nematode causing problems on coastal golf courses in Northern California" and describes a survey conducted "to determine the distribution of A. pacificae and other nematodes" located in the region. Results included that "A. pacificae was found on Poa annua greens in all golf courses surveyed in Monterey, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties" and "populations of all four nematodes fluctuated throughout the year".
