Abstract/Contents: | Addresses some of the contradictions that occur within the golf course architecture industry. Evaluates the statistical standards which vary among quality and distinction and describes some of the components that are necessary to assemble "the qualifications for the ideal golf course architect." States that "ingenuity, imagination and freedom of expression are as important to golfing architects as they are to artists or writers." Concludes that "golf is unique in the access it affords to some of the most beautiful places on earth, and it is entirely understandable that golfers find fascination in the courses" partly due to the ingeniousness of the architects. |
