Abstract/Contents: | Defines Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as "a system of plant management that utilizes a variety of strategies to maintain plants in a healthy and vigorous state." Emphasizes the importance of IPM as a way to increase the quality of lawn care. States that "cultural practices are what most lawn care managers have direct influence over. It is here that most planning and program development should take place, even in areas like mowing and irrigation that may not be directly implemented by the lawn care manager." Addresses many concerns regarding the change of traditional lawn care practices and describes ways to implement an IPM approach in lawn care. Presents a list of suggestions for implementing a lawn care IPM program. |
