Abstract/Contents:Profiles spring dead spot as a turf disease that appears "in spring, following the ravages of winter, in the form of circular dead turf areas anywhere from a few inches to several feet in diameter." Discusses the disease's causal organisms and treatment for the disease. States that "good fungicides, applied preventatively...coupled with a good management program, especially the removal of mat and thatch - can do an excellent job of controlling spring dead spot." Also profiles pythium and several pythium control options. States that "prevention is the only sensible approach to control."
