Abstract/Contents: | "Most weeds were difficult to control up to the 1940s. As organic herbicides became available, some weeds were easier to control and may be removed from the difficult list. For turfgrass weed problems 2,4-D, silvex and dicamba have reduced our list of difficult broadleaved weeds from about 40 most common weeds to a few in Virginia. Annual grasses have received some relief but not to the extent of broadleaved weeds. Goosegrass is only poorly controlled with preemergence herbicides. Perennial weed grasses are the most difficult problem at present. Preplanting control offers some relief." |
