Abstract/Contents: | "Research at Aberystwyth during the late 1960's estabished that soil binding strength was correlated with the bounce and pace of well-prepared cricket pitches (Stewart and Adams, 1969). The technique used to measure soil binding strength which was developed in this work is quite simple and, although subject to a degree of operator error, it has proved extremely valuable. The ASSB test (Adams-Stewart Soil Binding test) has enabled consultants and cricket groundsmen to gain a reasonable assessment of the suitability of cricket topdressing without the need to resort to complex soil analysis." |
