| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of mesotrione "to control broadleaf weeds in cool-season turfgrasses." States that "mesotrione acts systemically within the plant and controls weeds by inhibiting the enzyme HPPD (4-hydroxyphenylpyruvatedioxygenase) in the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway." Presents an experiment "to evaluate the effect of timing of application on the efficacy of mesotrione." Results included that "all the sequential treatments resulted in higher level of control of weeds compared to single application at 28 DAT." Concludes that "there was no significant difference between the treatments in reference to control of swinecress and sowthistle at the 42 DAT except the single application of the lowest rate of mesotrione." |
