| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the annual renovation of golf courses. Details maintenance of greens, tees, and fairways, describing proper renovation techniques for each. Lists renovation objectives, including "relieving soil compaction through aeration, removing unwanted lateral growth by scarifying, addressing the accumulation of organic matter (where appropriate) by hollow coring and/or deep scarifying, improving sward composition through overseeding, restoring the putting surfaces by top dressing, and resolving dry patch problems by the continued application of wetting agent through the autumn and indeed perhaps the winter to assist moisture infiltration and the re-wetting of the rootzone." Emphasizes the importance of planning renovation operations in advance. |
