Abstract/Contents:Discusses the use of bio hydraulic fluid in golf course maintenance equipment. Suggests making "sure the manufacturer approves the use of bio-oil in [the] equipment. If units are under warranty, get that assurance in writing." Compares turf recovery time following a standard oil leak to recovery time following a bio-oil leak. States that "turf does recover quicker [after being exposed to bio-oil] because the hot oil burns but doesn't contaminate [the turf]." Cautions that some bio-oils "will start to gel up and freeze at 32°F [Fahrenheit]. This is not a good situation if you need to use or bring the machines in for service."
