Abstract/Contents:Describes the "Kentucky bluegrass improvement program at Rutgers [University, which] involves extensive field evaluation of collections and new material developed in the breeding program as well as the evaluation of cultivars or selections developed by other breeders." Rates eight Kentucky bluegrass trials in terms of billbug damage, genetic color, seedling vigor, leaf texture, incidence of summer patch disease, and Poa annua encroachment. Concludes that "improved resistance to disease and insect pests, heat, drought, close mowing, shade, and wear are needed in cultivars that are expected to perform well under many situations."
