Abstract/Contents:"Annual bluegrass (Poa annua) and roughstalk bluegrass (Poa trivialis) are common weeds of golfcourse fairways. Velocity (bispyribac-sodium) is a newly labeled herbicide that selectively removes these weeds from creeping bentgrass fairways. Although Velocity has been shown to be effective, application elicits an undesired discoloration to the creeping bentgrass known as the "yellow flash". Although extensive product testing has been conducted on perennial ryegrass and creeping bentgrass, its safety on other bentgrass species commonly found on golf course fairways (e.g., colonial and velvet bentgrass) is unknown. The objectives of this study were to: 1) determine the tolerance of colonial and velvet bentgrass to Velocity and 2) determine if the "yellow flash" can be masked with applications of Lesco's Iron + N; and 3) determines the rate and number of applications necessary to selectively remove roughstalk bluegrass from creeping bentgrass."
