Abstract/Contents:"A stream draining a watershed that was 65% golf course and 55% pasture and forest was monitored from April through November of 1993. Water sampled were tested for nitrate and four pesticides specific to golf courses. Approximately 5.6 lbs/ac of nitrate left the golf course compared to 11.0 lbs/ac for the overall watershed. The herbicide 2,4-D was detected only in the early Spring at levels between 1.5 and 2.5 μg/l, chloropyrifos was detected at levels between 0.005 and 0.015 μg/l, metalaxyl was detected once at approximately 0.9 μg/l, and chlorothalonil was never found in the water samples. Even though diazinon was not applied to the golf course, it was detected at levels up to 1.4 μg/l, probably as a result of home lawn care activities of the residents."
