Abstract/Contents:Profiles carpet burweed. States that it "is an introduced low-growing aggressive winter annual, invading turfgrass ares on the Southwest Coast of BC [British Columbia, Canada]. Lists possible habitats including "turf, compacted paths, roadsides, pastures, boat launches, waste places, and other disturbed areas." States concerns with carpet burweed including "its ability to infest turf, where it leaves brown patches of dead plant matter following the end of its annual cycle. Also...its ability to puncture the skin of humans and animals." Describes carpet burweed, stating the "plant may grow up to 10 cm [centimeters] in diameter and 7 cm tall." States that in British Columbia "carpet burweed is commonly confused with several other plant species." Discusses possible methods for preventing establishment, spread and control.
